Henning Schiewer

Henning Schiewer studied electric bass and double bass from 2014 to 2019 at HMT Rostock and Berklee College of Music in Boston with, among others, Bruce Gertz, John Patitucci, Oscar Stagnaro, and Achim Seifert.

Since 2022, he has been a student in the Dr. Langner Jazz Master program at HfMT Hamburg, focusing on jazz double bass and jazz composition with, among others, Robert Landfermann, Marc Muellbauer, and Wolff Kerschek.

He has also been working as a freelance musician since 2019, playing as a highly regarded sideman in various bands/ensembles, as well as musical and studio productions in jazz and pop. During this time, he played with Gabriel Coburger, Nils Wogram, and Patrick Farrant.

He composes and arranges music for his own projects, the „Schall & Rauch Ensemble“ and „HSQ (Henning Schiewer Quintet),“ combining influences from poetry, classical music, jazz, pop, and world music. In 2024, the first album of his quintet, „Leaves on a Creek,“ will be released. Henning Schiewer has been a scholarship recipient of Berklee College of Music, the Musikfonds Deutschland, the Norbert Janssen Foundation, and the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation.
